Ana qualified as a registered Dietitian in 2009, registration number DT25349.
Ana is trilingual and is able to carry out dietetic assessments and interventions in English, Spanish and Basque. Ana previously qualified as a Psychologist in Spain where she conducted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with women suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Ana successfully completed the postgraduate certificate in Sports and Exercise Nutrition at Coventry University, and the postgraduate module on Motivational Interviewing on Chronic Diseases at King’s College London.
Ana has experience teaching service users, patients, students, other health professionals and colleagues on healthy eating, nutrition support, and the nutritional needs of older adults. Ana has also worked as a visiting lecturer in the Official Master in Gerontology at Deusto University in Spain.
Ana started working in the NHS over eight years ago. Ana conducted data analysis for the Renal Dietitians at the Royal London Hospital. She also assisted the primary care dietitians and the diabetes dietitians at St Anne Hospital organising and evaluating community dietetic events.
Ana has spent the last five years working in a Mental Health hospital where she was in charge of the dietetic care of inpatients, outpatients and those living in specialist care units. She has also worked closely with the catering department.
Ana has expertise in the dietetic care of those in need of nutrition support, those who are overweight and obese, suffer from diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, cardiovascular diseases, liver disease, disordered eating, and polycystic ovaries syndrome. Ana has first hand experience in baby led weaning and helps those who exercise improving their performance.
Ana is passionate about health, mind and body. Thus she translates the most up to date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.
