Profile for Hannah Whittaker, BDA Registered Dietitian

Do you need support with Maternal or Early Years nutrition then I can help.

I am a British Dietetic Association and HCPC registered clinical specialist dietitian with over 13 years of experience in delivering nutritional education, advice and support to a range of different client groups.

My expertise lies in maternal and early years nutrition, supporting mums to have a healthy pregnancy and to continue this throughout their babies early childhood.

Within my current role I provide  bespoke assessment and care. My main focus and passion in Paediatrics is within the area of childhood allergies (supporting mums to continue to breastfeed regardless of whether baby has a food allergy) and weight management. However I also support parents/carers with weaning, and children with restricted eating behaviour, including those associated with autism, sensory processing and ARFID.

Within the area of maternal health I support women to ensure nutritional balance throughout pregnancy, and provide advice with regards to pregnancy sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum, maintaining a healthy weight in pregnancy and gestational diabetes.

In the post natal period I support with recovery through nutrition, helping and educating mum to ensure nutritional balance for her and baby during breastfeeding.  All dietetic support is bespoke based on individual need.

All assessments and advice provided are in line with national guidance and evidence based practice, which is supported through regular attendance at clinical professional development forums, groups and training. Alongside  one-to-one sessions I am able to lead discussion groups, deliver bespoke training packages and work in collaboration with a range of organisations, focussing on maternal and early years nutrition.

I regularly support the BDA as a spokesperson and have contributed to articles published in the Dailymail and by the BBC and have recently featured on Channel 5 programme; Supermarket Secrets discussing Superfoods which aired in February 2021.

My overall goal is to optimise nutrition through the pre and post natal period and continue this throughout childhood.
