Human Nutrition and Dietetics BSc (Hons) RD
Julie is a diabetes specialist dietitian excelling at delivering expert diabetes education to individuals, groups and organisations.
She graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2006 with a BSc (Hons) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and after two years working at Southend Hospital went on to specialise in diabetes within a specialist NHS diabetes service.
She is a DAFNE and DESMOND trained educator as well as running a number of courses she has developed herself.
Julie is known for her lively personality and enthusiasm for the role of diet in diabetes control. She has worked with industry to develop a programme for type 1 diabetes carbohydrate counting.
She has been published twice in peer reviewed diabetes journals on the subjects of carbohydrate counting and setting up an insulin pump community service.
Julie continues to work in the NHS as team leader for a community adult diabetes service. She now runs her own practice providing dietetic consultancy to individuals with diabetes, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
Key skills include communicating to a range of audiences, translating the science of food into a language to suit the listener, delivering presentations and development of innovative training ideas to suit the needs of the individual or group.
Julie has worked alongside industrial partners including Roche Diabetes Care, Astra Zenica, Novo Nordisk, Boehringer, Sanofi Avensis delivering both patient and healthcare professional diabetes education.
