Kattya qualified as a registered dietitian in 2009. Kattya is bilingual, and is able to conduct interviews and assessments in Spanish.
She began her dietetic career in the NHS, with caseloads in acute medicine, elderly care, oncology and gastrointestinal (GI) admissions, ante and post-natal, Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), surgical, palliative care, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and dermatological, as well as managing general medicine outpatient clinics and weight management groups, where Kattya supported patients through diet advice for diabetes, weight loss, malnutrition, hypertension, low fat cardiovascular diet. She trained to support patients suffering from IBS with low FODMAP diet and “Challenging with FODMAPS”.
As a specialist dietitian Kattya’s clinical load included Elderly care, Haematology supporting non transplant patients covering treatment symptom control, and supporting patients in Respiratory and HIV, upper and lower non-oncology GI surgery and Upper oncology GI surgery.
Kattya also worked for a National Hospital Catering Health care company as a senior specialist dietitian, analysing and developing menus and food labels to follow guidelines as well supporting the company on new contract bids.
During this post she covered a specialist low FODMAP diet and “Challenging with FODMAPS” clinic for the trust. Kattya enjoys research, and has published in the Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics. She was actively involved as a specialist research dietitian for the Lambeth and Southwark Action on Malnutrition Project (LAMP) Team which is a pilot site for the Malnutrition task force in collaboration with Lambeth age UK. She gained knowledge and experience supporting the community services supporting malnutrition and elderly nutrition from the NHS, charities and voluntary services. Clinically, she supported patients at the Elderly Care Unit and covered the “Older Person’s Unit”.
Kattya is currently funded as the Clinical Practice Guideline Methodologist/Project Manager On behalf of DEBRA International, an Epidermolysis Bullosa Charity.
She enjoys promoting evidence based dietetics.
