Hello, my name is Nusrat. I am an expert in nutrition in a range of areas particularly, diabetes (all types) and sport and exercise nutrition. I am a registered dietitian (BSc) and sport and exercise nutritionist (PG Cert) based in the Bradford/Leeds area of West Yorkshire. I do some work currently for the NHS as a Diabetes Dietitian in GP surgeries as a PCN Dietitian.
I can meet you face-to-face locally or am able to offer virtual consultations across the UK, at a time convenient to you. As a registered dietitian (since 2008), my career has spanned the NHS, private sector and voluntary sector working in various specialist clinical areas, diabetes clinical practice and health promotion. I have extensive experience of using behaviour change skills and motivational interviewing to help clients meet their goals. I am passionate about helping individuals meet their health and nutrition goals in diabetes: remission, pre-diabetes (Impaired Fasting Glycaemia/Impaired Glucose Tolerance), gestational diabetes, type 2 diabetes, secondary diabetes (3c) and type 1 diabetes.
This will include reviewing your current diet, lifestyle and reviewing how you use diabetes technology including; finger pricking BG monitoring equipment, continuous or flash glucose monitoring, insulin pump or DIY equipment. I focus on a smart carb approach or can support you with a low carb or very low carb diet / ketogenic diet or very low calorie diet (with liaison with your team if on medications which cause hypos).
I have experience of working with individuals, groups and families to manage their diabetes and reduce the risk of developing long term complications.
I have a particular interest, in helping those with diabetes to get active or stay active and to help improve performance with individual sport and exercise nutrition advice. Additionally, as a qualified Sport and Exercise Nutritionist, who is on the SENr graduate register I can also support individuals or groups to personalise nutrition around training to improve performance or optimise nutrition for physical performance.
I translate nutrition science into understandable and practical advice about food, helping you to make appropriate lifestyle choices to manage your health or condition.
I’m also available for teaching sessions or workshops, and any other type of consultancy work, including recipe / menu analysis and article writing.
I also mentor other dietitians/nutritionists either in a group or as a 1:1 service. Please do contact if you are seeking a mentor or coaching in an area of my specialism.
