Profile for Tamsin Kivi, BDA Registered Dietitian

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Are you seeking symptom relief? Well you’ve come to the right place!

This is where your journey to OPTIMUM HEALTH starts!! Whether it is symptom relief, weight loss, help with identifying food intolerances or you are looking to achieve optimum health, you will get expert advice and support from a Registered Dietitian. Specialising in Irritable Bowel   Syndrome, Small intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Food Intolerances.

A bit about me…

I am a HCPC registered dietitian (BSC Hons Dietetics and nutrition). I use the most up-to-date, scientific evidence through my practice and adhere to a code of conduct and am governed by a professional body (HCPC).

I have a huge passion for all things food and health! My aim is to support you through your journey to achieving OPTIMUM health and getting you the best health possible and achieving your BEST results!

Our digestive tract is probably the most undervalued organ in our bodies? Did you know this wonderful organ is responsible for regulating almost all of our vital bodily functions. For example, regulating 90% of the immune system, fighting off infection, absorbing vitamins and minerals nourishing our body, removing toxins and the regulation and production of hormones such as serotonin – also known as the happy hormone! So in short, your gut is responsible for how you feel and how you feel can influence your gut!!

What can I expect when seeing a dietitian?

1. Firstly, we start by gathering essential information in order to build your personalised health profile. This allows me to get an idea of where you are in your journey and enables us to support you and get you on your way to better health.

2. You will be sent a 3 day food and symptom diary prior to your fist consultation. This enables me to get a good idea of your symptoms and relation to food and also enables you to tell me about your symptoms in great detail.

3. I will monitor and review your progress at regular intervals to ensure you reach your goals!

Every person is different, so nutritional care plans are tailored to meet the needs of the individual and can be reviewed and tweaked during each stage.

There may be instances where further tests and investigations may need to be carried out, for example, investigations for diagnosis via your Doctor. This ensures that your nutritional plan suits your needs and get you the results you want!

Please feel free to get in touch with us via email or phone with any queries and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Areas covered are not limited to Birmingham as assessments and reviews can be done via a Face-to-Face meeting, Video/Skype call, Telephone or Email. Additional cost for travelling long distance (0.56p/mile) if 10 miles outside of Birmingham is available on request.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have extensive experience working both within the NHS and as a freelance dietitian, providing personalised and evidenced based advice to clients with a variety of conditions including:

Coeliac disease
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
low FODMAP diet
Food intolerances
Weight management
Bespoke Nutritional Plans: Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Wheat/Dairy-Free, Histamine-Free.

Additionally, I have completed a specialist training course at King’s College University London, focusing on the specific use of the low FODMAP diet to manage and improve symptoms in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The Low FODMAP diet has been proven to improve symptoms and quality of life in up to 80% of clients with moderate to severe IBS. However, this may not work for every individual, therefore a tailored plan following an initial consultation may require personalisation to meet individual needs and requirements.

I have also studied and completed additional subjects including:

-The low FODMAP diet in the treatment of IBS
-Vegetarian and Vegan Nutritionist Diploma (Centre of Excellence)
-Holistic Health and Wellness Coaching Program
-Weight-Loss Coach and Counselling program
-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Nutrition Counselling
Please feel free to get in touch with us via email or phone with any queries and we will get back to you as soon as possible

*Please note, before having a hydrogen breath tests, an initial assessment from a gastroenterologist for thorough assessment is required (separate costs for this is dependant on the consultation type and location you opt for with the clinician, this is decided by your preferences). This is done by a referral (via myself) in order to ensure the correct test is carried out in line with your symptoms and for medical expertise on treatment/prescription for positive results. This enables any further testing or advice to be obtained in line with diagnosis and treatment options by specialist gastroenterologists. This is to keep in line with clinical governance and will usually be required for similar services in the UK. Diagnosis and treatment of SIBO requires a consultation and treatment (prescription of antibiotics) via a qualified gastroenterologist. Dietary treatment to treat thereafter requires a dietitian.
